3/19/18 - This is an original WW2 rifle bayonet made in 1942 with some early features. There is an AFH maker stamp with a US flaming bomb and date stamp on the blade. The handle is brown plastic material with no cracks or chips. The blade has some light scabbard wear, but no major issues. Overall a very nice, excellent blade. The scabbard is marked USN MK I, and is also in excellent condition. One side of the scabbard metal has some light browning wear, but overall excellent. Research tells me that these scabbards weren't only used by the navy, and most were used by the marines. Some research books claim that the USN stamped scabbards are not correct for these metal bayonets, but experts say that supply was short on scabbards so marines (and even some US army) were given these USN marked scabbards.
