5/17/18 - This is a desirable Krieghoff Luger made in 1936. The factory used the S code designation to hide manufacturing information as the Nazis were violating International Law in their arms build up. These L2 proofed Krieghoffs were very well made - in small numbers and all went to the Luftwaffe, making them very desirable to collectors. This one is all original finish and matching numbers with the exception of the post war Swiss magazine. It comes with the appropriate fine checkered Ritz grips. The serial number 2738 is considered a "mid-S" variation. There were about 2,000 of this variation made. Extremely rare when compared to the hundreds of thousands of Mauser made lugers. The sideplate is internally numbered to the gun with the appropriate HK proof. The original finish covers about 96-97% of the gun in a very nice high polish blue with minor thinning to the barrel and muzzle. The "ears" on the receiver are properly matte finish with the edges high polish. This is evidence of an all original finish with correct HK parts. The bore is shiny and strong.
