SOLD - Scarce Ku Luftwaffe Mauser P.08 - Matching Magazine
7/7/17 - This is a rare Luftwaffe-issued Mauser luger, marked Ku on the left side of the receiver. There were only an estimated 5,000 of this variation produced, which were put together from Mauser parts and assembled for the Luftwaffe according to expert Randall Gibson. Nearly all of these pistols are dated 41 over the chamber, but there are a few that are recorded with a 1939 date (like this one). It is all correct, original and matching (including the grips and magazine). The numbering on the grips and magazine may appear odd for other Mauser lugers but are correct for the Ku. The finish on this pistol rates at about 95-96%, with the most notable wear on the sideplate and bottom of the front strap. Barrel and receiver are properly marked LZA. It is thought that the probable meaning of the Ku was "Kummerer", which means substandard or missized. This would go hand in hand with the idea that these lugers were put together from leftover Mauser parts. The bore has no pitting but is frosted - I'd rate it a 6 or 7.
