7/11/18 - This is a completely original, correct, and functional Winchester M97 Trench Shotgun. Complete rig with 3 original brass rounds, leather strap and a rare Winchester WW1 Bayonet. The shotgun has excellent wood, original and correct with a high comb. The buttstock plastic piece has a small chip in the base - as shown in photos. The wood otherwise has no notable flaws. The metal is excellent considering its' age. The bluing is about 80% in tact with normal wear on the receiver, heat shroud, tube, muzzle, and speckling on the trigger and trigger guard. There's some browning / patina on the barrel as well. The photos are true to condition. The leather strap is 1918 dated and in great shape despite a small cut in the leather towards the upper attachment hook. The cut is about 7/10ths of an inch in size. The scabbard is completely original - EJB maker stamped on the scabbard, and "W" stamped on the blade. Excellent condition on the blade and scabbard. There are 3 original vintage rounds of brass 12 gauge shells included as well! An exellent and very desirable WW1 production shotgun rig. This shotgun recently sold but our buyer changed his mind before taking receipt of the gun. So newly re-available! Also, new information regarding the lack of inspection proofs / flaming bomb proof stamps: We've added scanned pages from two different sources citing that some WW1 trench guns did NOT have stamped receivers. Also the lack of any cartouche or inspector stamp in the wood indicates this was brought home and put away after WW1, and never was re-arsenaled for WW2.
