8/18/20 - This an original gravity knife issued to the Nazi Luftwaffe during WW2. was initially issued to German flight crews and paratroops, primarily for the purpose of cutting a trapped parachutist from his rigging in case he landed with a tangled parachute, or became entangled in trees or in the water with the shroud lines. The spike was used to untie knots while packing the parachutes. Luftwaffe air crew members used the knife to cut themselves out of their harnesses or cut through the aluminum hull of the aircraft after a crash landing. This one is in excellent condition. The blade is "Weyersberg Solingen" makers marked and serialized "96". The spike has a Luftwaffe proof. There are very light scratches along the blade and small dings on both sides of the top of the handle. Some very small dings in the wood. The blade does stick a little bit when coming out and going back in, but does work with a push or pull.
