11/15/18 - Offered for the discriminating, high end collector is an original WW1 parts correct, transferable automatic German Dwm Mg08/15. The Mg08/15 is a lightened and thus more portable version of the Mg08. The MG 08/15 had been designed to be manned by four trained infantrymen spread on the ground around the gun and in the prone position. The MG 08/15 featured a short bi-pod rather than a heavy four-legged sled mount, plus a wooden gun-stock and a pistol grip. More photos, operations manual and more detailed description are available upon request. This Mg08/15 is a full restoration of a Dewat. It required refinishing due to rust, the pitting from which is still visible, primarily on the top cover and spring housing on the side of the machine gun. The entire Mg has been rust blued for an original and durable finish. The top cover, receiver, pistol grip and small parts are numbered 9321, while the barrel, and drum mount are mismatched. Stock is not numbered, but metal stock cup is 9321. The pistol grip exhibits minor age related cracking, but is functional, with a working original safety. The stock is in great shape, with the expected scrapes and gouges from !00 years of service. The entire Mg is covered with proof markings, and other assorted correct German army service stampings. It has a full and correct booster cone. The shroud is in great condition, with only two minor dings. The internals of this Mg are in fantastic condition, with parts correct non matching bolt with German proofs. The barrel is original, with brass and leather parts intact. Mechanically this Mg is very sound. It has all its original parts, all of which function and are serviceable. Gaskets have been replaced as needed. This is a fully operational Mg08/15. All pins and screws have been cleaned free of rust and nothing is frozen or seized in place.
