9/1/21 - This is a nice example of a very rare DWM Dutch-contract Luger. This one has a "Circle KL" marking on the right side of the slide, indicating this Luger was one of 3,820 ordered by the Dutch East Indies Army in 1927. The “KL” marking is much disputed (like the 1933 Kl. Lugers) but most experts now think the KL in a circle should be read KOL. This may have been struck at the request of the “Department van Kolienen” (colonial department) but no one is sure why. All 3,820 of these guns have the KOL mark. The gun is all matching, has "Crown N" proofs, and has the proper "Rust" Dutch safety. It comes with very nice wood grips and a mismatched period-correct magazine. It has retained roughly 85% of its finish. There is wear on the side plate, on the chamber, on the side rails, on the barrel, around the muzzle and on both straps. There are tiny pits and spotty oxidation throughout. Scratchy wear on the straps. The rifling in the bore is worn with pin-pricking throughout.
