10/12/21 - This is a rare US Experimental helmet for use during WW1. Developed in 1917, this is one of 15 numbered helmet prototypes the US made. The No. 2 was based on helmets of 15th century Greece and Italy. The helmet was rejected by the US military due to being too similar to the German M1916 helmet. About 2000 of these were made by Ford Motors. The helmet has a rough exterior with mild patina. The interior consists of three leather strips, which likely had leather pads attached, but have since fallen off. The chin strap is still completely in tact - canvas material in good condition. No major dents or issues on the metal.
