3/31/21 - This is a rare document awarded to the Pioneer Battalion 157, in the city of Hanau. This award was given November 29th, 1939, 59 days after the beginning of WW2. Pioneer Battalion 157 was responsible for making sure bridges and roads were ready for the German Army across Poland. The document was awarded to Hermann Rahls, who was given a spange 2nd class for bravery as well as the Iron Cross 2nd class during WW1. The spange 2nd class is included, as is the award packet and ribbon for the iron cross 2nd class (as shown). A unique piece of WW2 history.
