2/14/20 - This is an ultra rare Steyr G29(o) assembly that was part of a small Luftwaffe contract, and is the first correct example that we have encountered/offered. This particular listing includes an original sling, original muzzle protector, cleaning kit, 1939 dated bayonet with matching numbers, Luftwaffe marked brown leather frog, and a matched set of two brown Luftwaffe ammunition pouches. These rifles were part of a contract of Steyr Solothurn Colombian M30 rifles that was being manufactured at Steyr when the 1938 annexation of Austria occurred. The Luftwaffe, in desperate need of small arms, immediately took over the production and the rifle was modified as much as possible to the standard 98k Rifle configuration. It was made briefly in 1938 and early 1939, after which the factory was re-tooled to manufacture the standard K98k. These rifles are all Luftwaffe marked and they are rarely ever seen today. It could genuinely be years before you see another grouping offered such as this one. The rifle is all matching with excellent finish on the receiver, and only minor wear on the barrel and front band. While the bolt is matching and all numbering appears factory original, the bolt is Mauser marked. It's believed that some parts were contracted out to Mauser to complete production. Stock is in good condition and matching numbered to the receiver, with a small chip near the front band. Mint bore. The consignor put together an extensive document on the accessories, which can be included or provided upon request.
