SOLD - RARE Nickel Engraved Walther PP - Floral Pattern
12/4/17 - For those collectors who have been looking for a FACTORY engraved piece, here's a rare one for you. Most engraved guns from the factory (about 90%) are blued and either oak leaf or acorn pattern. This one is unique as it has a nickel finish and it is engraved in a floral pattern. Probably less than 5% were made in this pattern, and if you look closely at the slide and frame you can see several roses and other flowers. This gun is also one of the earliest known engraved guns, as it is in the 757xxx range. It has early X grips, a 90 degree safety and a "fat" hammer. Also has the enclosed firing pin. The magazine is an early finger extension mag, but the tube of the magazine is not nickeled but rather "in the white". Another interesting feature on this gun is that it has no firing proofs on the slide or frame. The barrel is crown/N proofed on the end. I can't explain the lack of proofs as I doubt this was never issued, but I know the guns for factory engraving were pulled off the assembly line for special orders and then took many months to complete the process. Perhaps when the gun was completed it was never cycled back for test firing. The lack of proofs just further confirms the fact that it was a factory order.
