6/2/21 - This is an excellent example of a P.38 issued to the Nazi military in September of 1944. It is all matching and has the proper "Eagle 88" military proofs. One proof on the left side of the frame looks like it was peened. There are three asterisk proofs on the right side of the slide, indicating the gun failed inspection and was sent back to the factory for repairs. The barrel was replaced - it has a "Crown N" proof, and the barrel looks like it was numbered to match. Because of the replaced barrel and peened proof, we believe this is a police rework. It has retained about 95% of its bluing. There is minor wear on the front edges of the slide and around the muzzle. A few small spots of wear on the barrel and a few small dings on the front strap. Comes with excellent grips and a scarce "U' marked magazine. De-cocker is functional. Minty bore. There is thick grease in all of the internals - could benefit from a good cleaning.
