6/9/22 - This is a CG Haenel-made Gewehr 98 rifle issued to the Imperial German military in 1917. The gun is mostly mismatched and has the proper Imperial proofs throughout. No import marks. Overall, the gun is in fair condition. Most of the finish loss is on the receiver. There is heavy brown patina and spotty oxidation covering all of the metal parts. Noticeable pitting and rust on the butt plate. There are several noticeable cracks and gouges in the wood of the butt stock. However, it does not appear to affect the functional integrity of the wood. The bore has heavy oxidation and pitting throughout.
