1/27/22 - This is a nice example of a Colt Model 1917 revolver issued to the US military in 1918. The gun is all matching, "United States Property"-marked on the underside of the barrel, and has the appropriate US military inspection stamp on the left side of the frame. There are what look like added rack numbers on the underside of the barrel and cylinder swivel. We believe the gun was refinished at an arsenal after WW1. As a result, the gun has a dark, almost black dull finish. There is wear around the muzzle, wear around the high edges in general, and a light roll mark on the cylinder. There are areas with spotty oxidation and tiny dots of discoloration throughout. It is most noticeable on the barrel, cylinder, top strap, and on the grip straps. Comes with period-correct grips that have minor bruises here and there. The grips are hand-numbered on the inside. The left panel is not matching, the numbering on the right panel is illegible. The bore has strong rifling with hints of frosting here and there.
