1/19/22 - This is a very nice example of an early Springfield Armory Model 1903 rifle issued to the US military in 1906. The gun has a properly-blued receiver and an early-style handguard. The receiver dates to 1906. The barrel is Springfield-marked and dated December of 1907. The stock has a "P" proof on the wrist and has a military acceptance stamp on the left side, also dated 1906. The markings on the stock are faint, and the "P" proof looks like it may have been reapplied. The stock was probably lightly sanded. Overall, the gun is in very nice condition. There is splotchy discoloration on the receiver and barrel. Finish loss and brown patina on the barrel bands. Scratchy wear and an area of oxidation on the floor plate. Noticeable finish loss on the trigger guard. Noticeable brown patina on the butt plate. The bore is very nice with great rifling.
