Halloween comes early with this"Mummified" British Lee Enfield No 4 Mk 2 Rifle

Start your day with a quickie!

Hey guys, let me start out your day with a quickie. First of all, I wanted to show you this because I did a video some time ago, in fact, I'll put the link right here below. It didn't get a lot of watches, but you might want to check it out.

Check out the earlier video

I did the five worst packing materials that we've ever gotten. So it included things like attic insulation, and then there was somebody who wrapped a gun in corn stocks. But we actually got a rifle this week wrapped in this.

Now look at this

So we have to add this. We had a rifle that was all wrapped up in this and I'm going to go home and play my air guitar. But the real reason I decided to do a quickie today was because these two rifles came in the door today. I was in the middle of filming some of the SOS finds and I'm still planning on doing this, but I thought I'd quickly just throw this out at you because, well first of all people tell me all the time that we should call our channel, the Walther and Luger channel, and I'm afraid we're getting typecast. So it's time we show you something else.

Lee Enfield Rifles

Lee Enfield Rifles

These are Lee Enfield rifles, and I know almost nothing about Lee Enfield rifles other than they are British. And I know the Mark 1 was used in World War II, and was considered a highly reliable, very accurate weapon. In fact, they used them as sniper rifles. These, however, are No 4 Mark 2s. And again, I don't know a whole lot about them, but I wanted to show him two just because I know you guys like gun porn, and these are really unusual to look at.

Let's look at the unwrapped one first

Let_s look at the unwrapped one first

So let's first take a look at the one that is unwrapped. Let's start at the south end of the rifle; you can see the buttplate looks like brass and there is a little compartment there for I guess a cleaning rod and some oil. And let's see, the cartridge is a British cartridge 303. You can see the blonde Woodstock is  -- Well this is in an issued condition. When we do time machine guns this would be this would qualify as a time machine because it was made and never issued and lo and behold ended up in the United States. No surprise there because all surplus weapons seem to end up in the United States at some time, the The magazine is considered fairly small, meaning it looks like it only holds about five or six rounds. And of course it is bolt action. And the sights are very accurate and there is place for elevation. And as we look at the rest of the gun -- Well you just see it is in brand new condition. There is a little tag on it; Looks like the tag is original, meaning when it was issued and sell and sold as surplus, it was tagged in this manner.

Remember, it was two guns

Remember, it was two guns

Now let's take a look at the one that came with it. Now I forgot to show you the markings. But let's take a look at the markings on this one. You can see that it says number four, mark two. And again, these were made from 1949 - 1955. If you look at the number underneath it, it says UF55 and then the serial number. 55 is the year this is made and that is the last year that they made the mark 2. At least according to my research '49 - '55 was when they made these rifles and the serial numbers are very close. Here's the two guns right next to each other. And you can see the serial numbers are fairly close both made in 1955.

I finally opened that packaging

I finally opened that packaging

Now when I got this, it reminded me of that holster. Remember that holster that came in the packaging and it had never been open. And so I opened it on air meaning, I did a video of me opening it and surprise surprise there was a mint boyte holster inside 1942. And so when I got this I said to Randy oh my gosh, this would be great. We can open this up. We can unwrap this one on camera. Won't that be cool? But of course not being the owner, basically it was sent to us on consignment, these two rifles were sent to us on consignment. And he said no, no, no, don't open this.

Mummy & Daddy

Mummy _ Daddy

This is called a mummy rifle. So I guess this is the mummy and this is the daddy. And so we'll just keep them the way they are and sell them separately. Some of you might have interest in Enfields; we actually do sell Enfields and Webleys from time to time. Great guns but not something I collect, so not something I know a whole lot about. Okay, so there you have it a Lee Enfield and we're not going to be typecast, but I got to get back to those SOS guns. So stay tuned and make sure you like and subscribe to our channel.
