12/14/17 - This is a Smith & Wesson Victory Model from World War II. It is U.S. Property marked and G.H.D (Guy H. Drewry) inspector marked. The original finish is about 90% with some thinning on the frame, but most of the finish loss on the front strap. Mint bore. Made from 1942 to 1944. All had a V prefix. There were a little over a half million made. They were standard issued side arms for US Navy and Marine air crews due to their size and ease of operation. It is .38 S&W rather than the .38 special that the U.S. military used. Comes with a correct, original holster which is 1943 dated.
