7/10/20 - This is a rare Saginaw Gear (S'G' or S-Prime, G-Prime) M1 Carbine from early 1944. It's tough to narrow exact production numbers as many S'G' primes were also used in the Irwin-Pedersen assembly, but no more than roughly 2.5% of total WW2 M1 Carbine production was done at the Grand Rapids plant of Saginaw Gear. This one is in fantastic condition and appears almost entirely correct. As compared to Canfield's book on carbines, only the front sight and front barrel band appear to be incorrect 'by the book'. Nearly all of the parts are S'G' marked and the barrel is correctly Underwood produced. The stock is SG marked but does also have a C-SAA stamp, indicating it went back to an arsenal at some point. Believe it indicates Camp Stanley in San Antonio. Excellent bore. No import marks. Full parts guide is included in the photos.
