1/18/18 - This DWM luger has been discussed on the collector forum as it is quite unique.   Most collectors have never seen one like it, including me.   Here's what I know...The gun started out as a commercial DWM luger made in the 1920's.  It most likely came in 30 caliber as most did.   It was then reworked, most likely in the lead up to WW2 when the German armed forces were trying to secretly re-arm.   At the time that it was re-worked it was re-barreled for 9mm Luger.  The grips could be original but unnumbered.  The finish could have been redone when the gun was re-worked.   The magazine is Mauser.  Finish is relatively nice except for the sideplate.  It has some spotting but it is not pitted.  The sideplate is (I believe) a Mauser sideplate and since it is matching to the gun I would assume it was a replacement when the gun was reworked.  Also the firing pin is fluted so it too would most likely be a Mauser replacement part.  So, now for the mystery part.  The right side of the receiver has what looks like a Krieghoff proof on it.   Several people have opined that this was a Krieghoff rework Luger that pre-dated their entry into Luger production.   Perhaps 1934 or 1935.  Take a look for yourself and see what you think.
