SOLD - Winchester Model 12 - Military "Riot" Shotgun

6/19/18 - This is a Winchester Model 12 Riot Shotgun that was issued to the US Military. The Shotgun was made in 1943, and although it doesn't have the bayonet lug and heat shield, there's a military ordnance stamp on the receiver, as well as a military cartouche on the stock. The serial number puts production of this shotgun at the end of 1943, when the US Ordnance Department contracted with WInchester for these riot shotguns to meet military demand. Only 33,000 were produced during WW2. The top of the barrel also has another ordnance proof stamp. The metal is factory blued but there's evidence of use and aging throughout the finish of the barrel, receiver, and tube. The tube displays browning patina throughout and most of the finish is missing. The barrel has thinning of the blued finish, mostly on the left side/underside of the barrel. The receiver has edge wear and some finish loss on the loading chamber and trigger guard. The wood stock is excellent though with the small cross cannon cartouch on the left side. The action is smooth and fully functional. Guaranteed all original and authentic.
