SOLD - WW2 US Paratrooper M1A1 Carbine

3/29/17 - This paratrooper rifle was made right around the time of the D-Day invasion - June of 1944.    It most likely saw service only at the end of the war.  It has no bayo lug, and no evidence that it was ever removed.   The adjustable rear site would be correct for a gun in the 5 Million serial range.    The strap and stock all look original to me, so I believe this to be an original configuration Paratrooper carbine.   The stock shows proper wear and age, as does the leather cheek pad.   The handle on the stock has a nice Armory cartouche on it and on the bottom is marked RI over 3.   The barrel has a P mark and is Inland stamped and dated.   The top cover shows a bit more wear than the rest of the stock, but is properly IO marked.  The magazine is also made by Inland and is IA marked.   The carrying case is dated 1943 and like new.   The case does not close when the rifle is in it but that is pretty common as these "like new" cases have never been stretched out.  Excellent bore that I'd rate about an 8 out of 10.
