12/30/22 - This is a nice, original example of a WW1 Colt Model 1917 Revolver rig that was issued to the US Army. The gun is marked with the Colt Stallion, "Eagle S18" military proof, and has a "US Property" mark on the underside of the barrel. The bottom edge of the right grip panel has the "RAC" inspector proof. This gun has only retained about 20% of its original bluing. Most of the remaining finish is on the barrel and some areas of the cylinder. There are a few small surface dings here and there most noticeable on the barrel and left side of the frame. There is spotty oxidation on the frame most noticeable on the straps and underside of trigger guard. Areas of minor pitting on the front strap. The gun is fully functional and the cylinder is tight, but the cylinder swivel is just a little tight. Excellent bore - shiny with strong rifling. The grips are original and excellent. The right grip panel is hand-numbered to the gun. The rig also includes an original U.S. marked holster with belt, canteen, first aid kit and pouch for the moon clips. The holster has some flaking and cracking but is intact overall. The first aid pouch is 1918 dated with R.I.A. marking. The canteen is also 1918 dated with RIA marking, and there are a few moon clips included.
