4/26/19 - This is a scarce Simson Luger made in the Weimar period in Germany, between the wars. Simson started manufacturing lugers in 1925 using equipment from the old Erfurt arsenal. Production was very low as the German army was limited in size and equipment following the Treaty of Versailles. Simson & Co. was the only company authorized to produce lugers for the German army during this time but then the company was nationalized by the Nazis in 1933. So total production from 1925 -1933 was very limited - even more rare than the Krieghoff lugers. Only about 12,000 ever produced. This gun is all matching and all parts are correctly stamped with the Simson Eagle/6 proof mark except for the screws. The magazine is numbered to a different gun, made for a Nazi era Mauser. This gun was likely made 1931-32. The original finish is about 95% with nice straw colored small parts. Wear on both sides of the muzzle, with a little more at the bottom of the straps. Excellent grips but they are unmarked, so likely replacements. Bore has some frost and freckling throughout.
