2/19/18  - This is a scarce PDM Walther PP, manufactured around 1934.  The pistol is all correct and original, and the bluing rates at about 94% with wear on both sides of the slide near the muzzle.  Beautiful straps.  There is no definite known meaning of the letters PDM, but these were issued to the Police Dept. of Munich when Himmler was the Chief of Police in 1935. So most assume PDM is a German translation for Police Dept. of Munchen.  Other possibilities could be the Polizei Dienst Modell, while another is that the PDM was a weapon used by a branch of the Postschutz (post office) for postal protection.  This pistol falls in the correct range and has proper features.  The last three digits of the serial match the last three of the marking next to the PDM proof, as they should.  The magazine is rare in that it is produced specifically for a bottom release feature, and does not have the notch in the body of the magazine that other Walther magazines do.  It is an early banner mag with a nice black finger extension. Excellent bore.
