5/30/17 - This is an all original Mauser C96, also known as a Red 9, with original matching stock. The finish rates at about 75-80%, with uniform thinning of the finish throughout. The stock is numbered to the gun and has a very faint imperial proof that is hard to make out. Grips are matching to the gun, and have the number 9 cut into them, and filled with red paint. This was done to distinguish between the M1896/16 and the M1896/12. Because the added red 9 was accomplished by various regimental armorers in the field during war time, it varies in size, color and quality. The stock has a GI's name scratched into it. Excellent bore.
