2/13/18 - This is an original WW2 Nazi medical Hewer. Technically, due to the Genova convention, this is not considered a weapon. Notice the squared tip - this Hewer was made strictly for medical purposes. In December of 1937 the Nazi Party recognized the German Red Cross and in 1938 it became part of the Ministry of Interior Social Welfare Organization. Due to the organization's non-combatant status under the Geneva Convention, members were not allowed to carry weapons. This hewer is in excellent condition ovearll with the original scabbard and leather frog. The blade is marked, but the maker stamp is hidden under the nazi eagle holding the red cross logo. The handle is checkered on one side, and smooth on the reverse side. There are no cracks or chips on the grip. The blade is excellent as well with almost no wear. Guaranteed original and authentic.
