1/16/18 -  This is a WW1 era luger that was manufactured by DWM and then reworked for police use in 1920.  Sometimes referred to as 'double date' lugers, this pistol is marked with a police unit number on the front strap, has the police sear safety above the sideplate, and has a police-numbered matching magazine.  This pistol also features the less common magazine safety, which is still intact.  Most were removed so this is not commonly found to be the case.  You can see in photos how the left grip panel has been altered to accomodate this in the top left portion of the panel.  The grips are both imperial proofed and matching to the gun, but the left panel has a notable chip below the safety.  The finish rates at about 90% with decent browning on the front strap and sideplate.  The right side of the pistol also has some surface spotting. The bore has decent rifling but freckled throughout.
