8/18/17 - This is an original WW1 era production Alex Coppel rifle bayonet with the original matching numbered scabbard! The bayonet is a total of 14.5 inches long inside the bayonet. The blade alone - to the handguard - is 9 inches. Research tells me this was for the model 1871/84 rifle, but I haven't found many similar style bayonets like this one online. The handle is serial numbered "18 B23, while the scabbard tip is numbered "18B" and "23" on either side (matching!). The handle is also numbered on the reverse side "11150" with a "90" number near the hand guard, and an imperial crown proof stamp. The blade is maker marked and in great shape with only some very minor wear. No signs of sharpening. The original scabbard is excellent as well with some normal wear on the leather portion, but overall excellent. Guaranteed original.
