5/12/20 - This is a very rare and very unique Winchester Model 1894 lightweight carbine. It comes in .30 WCF, and has the three leaf rear sight. It is all original stock and bluing that covers 50-60% of the receiver, but the barrel is more like 90%. Overall I would rate the gun at about 80%. Some case hardening still visible. The unique features include the half magazine, no sling ring, and it has the rifle butt rather than the expected carbine butt. Most importantly, each one of these special features are listed in the Cody Letter, making this a very unique and rare piece for the advanced Winchester collector. The rifle was made in 1897 according to the Winchester book so it qualifies as an antique. The factory letter dates it to 1900 so it must have been in the factory for a while or the "special order" took a while to build. Bore has strong rifling but some frost and freckling throughout.
