View Description |
9/7/17 - This is an original Winchester model 12 made during WW2 for the US military. According to Bruce Canfield's book, Winchester records indicate they sold the government 61,014 Model 12s from April 1942 to March, 1944. The serial number range is approximately 939,500 - 1,036,000. This shotgun falls within the range, and was most likely produced at the end of 1942 or early 1943. The shotgun is cross-cannon cartouche stamped on the stock, and has a US Flaming Bomb ordnance stamp on the receiver as well as the top of the barrel next to the Winchester proofs. The stock and foregrip are in excellent condition. The metal is in great shape, but overall has thinning and discoloration on the blued finish. This light discoloration is not rust or pitting, but a natural, honest wear. The photos are true to condition, and we rate conservatively at about 80% of the original bluing is still in tact. The action on this shotgun is smooth, and operationally this shotgun is fine. Guaranteed original and authentic.
