5/2/19 - This is a very interesting engraved parade / presentation SS rifle bayonet. The bayonet blade is engraved on two sides with SS ruins on each side. One side has "Meine Ehre Heist Treue" while the other indicates the 27th Grenadier Division. There is also engraving on the metal of the handle on one side. These engravings must have been custom added as this is not a known variation of parade dagger. My guess is a wealthy & proud SS member had this engraved for himself. Another theory would be a G.I. had this engraved before he left Germany to "spruce up" his captured prize. The engravings look correct to other period engraved pieces we have seen in German style (hence why we believe this was engraved in Germany either during or immediately post WW2). The bayonet overall is excellent. The portepee is original and SS as well. The scabbard is not matching to the bayonet, but is period correct as well. The frog is unmarked but period correct as well.
