9/3/20 - This is a scarce Walther P.38, marked ac 40 on slide, one of only ~12,000 produced. This is a lower production total than early zero series Walthers or first-year production Mauser byf 42's. This gun is all matching. There is one machine mark on the left side of the frame that appears to be a peen mark, but no markings are missing or destroyed. The original finish on this one rates at about 75%. The front strap is thin and there is wear on the underside of the trigger guard. There is general muzzle wear and high edge wear on the slide. There is spotty wear on the barrel and left side of the slide. The right side of the slide is covered in wear, small scratches, and one area of freckling. All of the small parts are "Eagle 359"-proofed except for the top plate. It comes with an original magazine that has been hand-etched to match the gun. The grips are period correct and waffenamt, but their serial numbers do not match the gun. The de-cocker is functional. The bore has decent rifling, but there is minor pitting throughout.
