10/6/21 - This is surely an "oddball" Luger, for that oddball collector out there. The Luger is a scarce police variation from 1942 with Eagle/L proof on receiver. It is a Mauser banner Luger with original finish and all matching numbers with the exception of the added conversion kit. The gun is the standard 9mm, but this one had the Erma 22lr caliber conversion kit attached and then left in that condition. Likely brought back from the war in this configuration. If you can find an original toggle, you could easily put this back into its 9mm original configuration. The Erma kit is also original and may have been issued to the Navy as it is WaA47 stamped in several places (Erma) and therefore issued to the military. Then also the magazine has an O. property mark on the bottom indicating Navy issued. It is also WaA47 proofed. The Navy mag serial number on the side does not match the serial of the Erma toggle. So all that is to say, we don't know how this all came together but it is certainly an odd mix of police, military and Navy markings from 1942. We wish it could talk. We believe this would make for a great conversation piece as well and an interesting Luger to shoot!
