2/14/20 - This is a unique piece of WW2 history. A German model 1942 SA Standarte Feldherrnhalle Double Decal Helmet that has been painted brown and decorated by veterans of the 3rd Infantry Division. The vet recapped the division's accomplishments and geography of their travels & battle campaigns. The SA Standarte Feldherrnhalle unit was used to supply honor guards at important headquarter encampments. The left side Luftwaffe decal is about 85% in tact. The right decal is the Feldherrnhalle monument over a red field, and is about 86% in tact. Munich 1945 is painted at the front of the helmet. Around the edge of the helmet are the names of 3rd infantry's various campaigns. The 3rd Division insignia and "Can do!" The helmet is size 66 and maker marked EF on the interior. Lot number is 10051. The leather liner is a little dry and cracking along the edge, but overall excellent and dated 1940 on the backside leather. Metal band is marked 66 n.A. 59 over 1943. Tightly in tact and installed. There appears to be a name on the inside of the helmet skirt, maybe "Sgt Tellos" but we can't really decipher the writing. A fantastic war trophy.
