7/12/17 - This is an original Remington model 1903 bolt action rifle from late WW2. According to the barrel, the rifle was made in late 1944. The barrel is stamped "9 44" along with "H S" and a flaming bomb. The "H S" means High Standard, which makes the barrel an arsenal replacement. This explains how the rifle could have seen a lot of action, but still have an excellent bore. The receiver is in excellent condition, but the bolt is stamped "BF 46", which means this is a replacement part. The front sight is numbered "064157-4" which is period correct, and not replacement. The stock however, is original and excellent with beautiful, all original cartouche and inspector stamps. The left side of the stock is cartouche stamped with an "FJA" inspector stamp. The underside of the stock has a flaming ordnance bomb and "US" stamp. The stock is a correct "modified 1903" version with no hand grooves. The leather shoulder strap is also original with a "US" stamp and ordnance stamp along with a 1944 date stamp. Guaranteed original WW2 rifle, with some minor arsenal altercations.
