8/20/19 - This is a rare and desirable Remington Model 1903-A4 sniper rifle with scarce 'Z-prefix' serial. There were fewer than 3,000 such examples produced. The rifle features a Weaver M73B1 scope on a Redfield mount. The M73B1 were one of the standard optics on WWII Model 1903A4 Sniper Rifles. It has crystal clear optics. The rifle has the distinctive Model 1903A4 features which include a "Type C" pistol grip stock with bolt relief cut-out, a modified bolt handle, the rear sight is removed to accommodate the scope mount and the barrel has no front sight base or blade. Barrel is dated to September of 1943. The rifle is in good condition but the metal parts do show a general thinning of the finish. Excellent stock with sharp Remington Arms proof, as well as crossed cannon cartouche and FJA inspector mark. There is a series of dings on the right side, near the forward end of the scope, as well as a two-inch long surface crack on the forend. The barrel is the two groove style utilized on late production Model 1903A4 rifles. Strong, shiny bore.
