11/1/18 - One of the rarely encountered German pre-war pocket pistols, the Haenel Model 2, was made in the thirties in very limited numbers. Under 10,000 guns were produced, compared to over 100,000 Model 1s made. Very few of these made it out of Germany as .25 caliber pistols were more likely to be squirreled away in basements and cellars by the Germans after WWII, as they were small (about the size of Walther Mod 9) and easily hidden. Only a few of these guns have been offered for sale in US, as evidenced by the lack of references and images of this model on the web. This particular example is absolutely stunning with over 99% of the original blue remaining, with just a hint of wear on the front edge of the slide. All the markings are sharp and the bore is excellent. Crown/N proofs indicate production before 1940. "SCHMEISSER" marked grips are minty as well.
