12/3/18 - This is a rare G Date Mauser K98, manufactured in 1935 and featuring all matching numbers and original finish. Introduced during the early years of the Nazi Party's dominance of Germany, the code system was intended to obscure the scale and speed of German re-armament, and all correct G Date K98s are seldom available to the collector market. The original finish rates at about 96-98% with the majority of the finish loss on the bolt release and the left side lip of the receiver. The bayo lug and area under the front barrel band are 'in the white', a feature of these early rifles that helps to ensure original bluing. All numbered parts match the receiver, including the hand guard, as well as the stock (internally numbered) and butt plate. Stock is gorgeous but may have been lightly sanded. Loads of early acceptance proofs adorn this rifle as well. The sling well is marked with DRP which indicates (I believe) that it was issued to local militia while the German army was still hiding their actual numbers. Comes with an original sling and cleaning rod. Terrifc bore.
