1/19/18 - This is a rare Mauser-made P.38, with police eagle/f marking on the right side of the slide. Only 1,500 of these pistols were produced! According to Jan Still, they fall between 4346-5501, and this one is 5359, making it one of the last of these produced! It has an excellent dual-tone finish, with phosphate frame and slide, as well as phosphate small parts, but a blued barrel. The finish on this late war pistol is a little crude, with a thin strap, and even a long machining line along the left side of the frame. But there is very little actual finish loss, and the bore is mint! The left side of the barrel does show some freckling though, but it is not deep. This pistol is all correct and matching, though the excellent grips do not quite match in color. If this is an issue for the buyer, I have no problem swapping one of the panels. All in all, this is an excellent example of a hard to find variation - one that we have not had available for offer in over a year!
