3/20/18 - This is a very desirable and RARE American Eagle Luger, model 1902. It is often referred to as a "FatBarrel" due to the fact that it actually has a fatter barrel - made for 9mm luger ammo. It is all matching and has a beautiful finish and beautiful straw colored small parts. When I first examined the gun I was convinced it was all original finish and in MINT condition, but it also seemed to be "too good to be true". The bluing shows signs of age/patina. The markings, including the Eagle on the receiver, are crisp and clear. The grips are sharp and undamaged. The magazine is like new condition. The gun functions smoothly and flawlessly. BUT, then I examined the bore. It is worn with a good amount of corrosion. I would rate the bore a 3 or 4 out of 10. Due to the condition of the bore I have to conclude that the gun has been professionally restored. And done SO well that many could be fooled if not for the worn bore. Still a great collectors example, and one you can be proud to display. We are pricing this gun at about half of what an all original FatBarrel would sell for in this condition.
