SOLD - Complete 1917 DWM Gewehr 98 - Rare Night Sights

8/13/20 - This is an all matching and original DWM Gewehr 98 in uncommonly seen condition and configuration.  This rifle has many especially cool features to it, so we'll start with the basics.  All numbered parts are matching, including the stock and all the way down to the cleaning rod.  Secondly, this rifle has especially nice bluing remaining in all finished areas, with some patina on the bands and trigger group but minimal bluing loss overall.  The birch wood stock is in very good condition with crisp imperial proofs in several areas.  There are a few dings and nicks, most notably on the underside (towards the butt).  The rare dust cover is also present, but what makes this an especially rare example is the night sight assembly that incorporates both the front and rear sight, and the unique dust cover assembly.  The night sight assembly alone can sell for over $1500! Bore is shiny with strong rifling and minor sign of use.
