10/25/21 - This is a rare Japanese Arisaka Type 99 Special Navy rifle from World War II. There were only about 14,000 of these manufactured at Yokosuka Naval Arsenal, and they feature a cast iron receiver and small parts (only barrel and bolt are steel). It is numbered with an assembly number, and is matching throughout (receiver, barrel, bayo lug, barrel band, buttplate and trigger group). These are crudely designed and finished rifles, and this one shows some thinning/patina on the metal parts. Bore is excellent and shiny though. Stock has some dings and handling wear, and a small chip on left side along the barrel.
