3/23/17 - This is one of the very early CYQ P.38's with no letter suffix, made in the first month of production at Spreewerke plant. It has all original finish and would be a really nice gun but sat on something corrosive as can be seen as pitting on the back, right side. You will notice that even the top of the grip is corroded a bit. The gun is all matching, but the mystery on this gun is found on the locking block. It has an eagle 18 proof - very small. As reported on the P38 forum this is only found on 7 (now 8) reported guns. I would not have know to look for it except due to my reading about it on the forum. (thanks guys). They are all found in the early CYQ serial range. At this point I don't think any one knows the meaning for origin of the Eagle 18 proof. Bore is a 6/10, with decent rifling but some frosting/freckling.
