3/28/18 This is the most desirable model of Smith & Wesson post war .357 magnum revolvers - a Pre-27 Model with a 3.5 inch barrel in its original serial numbered gold box. The gun dates to around 1954 and is in near new original condition with just a light cylinder ring and no evidence of being fired more than just a few rounds after leaving the factory. It is finished in beautiful high gloss S&W blue from 1950s, that is now considered by many collectors to be the best finish S&W was able to produce to date. The metal polishing is incredible and now a long lost art. The gun has matching numbers on the barrel, cylinder, ejector star and the frame. Original box is in nice shape as well with a faint matching serial number written in grease pencil on the bottom. 3.5 inch barrel length Pre-27s were highly regarded by the law enforcement of the era and many were used by police departments, FBI and the likes. A small percentage of Pre-27s were made in this desirable barrel length. Beautiful diamond magna grips complement the gun very well and make the gun a pleasure to hold. Comes with a factory letter detailing the history of this model in general, as well as this particular revolver.
