SOLD - Mark 12 Special Purpose Rifle
|Type:||Mk 12 Special Purpose|
7/16/19 - If you are looking for a high-performance, tactical AR-15 then this custom build is cream of the crop. This is a Mark 12 special purpose rifle with a Fulton Armory FAR-15 lower (~$350 retail). The barrel is a designated marksman Douglas original Mark 12 (5.56mm, 18 inch) and was custom built to exact military specifications. There was very limited production of these barrels and they are designed to shoot a heavier grain (77 grain) cartridge. These Mark 12 builds can easily go for $1500-2500 on their own. Highcalibersales.com has more extensive info on the Mark 12s. These uppers are premium quality and our consignor says this rifle has been accurate for him at up to 700-750 yards, which is fantastic range for the 5.56 round. The scope is the exceptional Vortex Razor HD, and comes in the original box. These scopes retail at $2500 alone. This build is loaded with custom features. It has a Troy Alpha Battlerail handguard with Troy squid style rubber grips (about $200 retail for the pair). The scope mount is produced by Era-Tac and appears to be a one piece cantilever mount as best I can tell (retail is over $300). The stock is collapsible and made by Magpul - it's marked CTR CAGE 1Lx50 (retail $50-100). The rifle grip is also made by Magpul. The front and rear sights are made by Knights Armament Company, and can retail at $150+ each. The receiver has an ambidextrous mag release installed, with Phase 5 receiver button as well as extended bolt release (retail $50-60). A Geissele trigger is installed, though not positive exactly which model (they retail around $250-350). The charging handle is made by Precision Reflex and these retail at almost $100. The flash hider has the cut for the suppressor and is built by Knights Armament (retails at about $100). Lastly, the rifle comes with five total magazines (30 rd - $50+ retail). So all in, this rifle has about $6000-$6800 in quality parts put into it. Our list price of $4500 is a screaming bargain if you ask us. FFL required, of course.
The Special Purpose Rifle (SPR) is a semi-automatic rifle with long effective range in service with United States Special Operations Forces used in the designated marksman role, also designed to be shorter than standard weapons. SPR initially stood for Special Purpose Receiver, but that nomenclature has been replaced as the weapon became a stand-alone weapons system, and not just an add-on upper receiver assembly (part of the proposed SOPMOD upgrades). The SPR was eventually type-classified by the U.S. Navy as the Mk 12.
