1/30/18 - This is an original paratrooper M1 Carbine. It was made for WW2 but most likely reworked for the Korean war. The folding stock is original WW2 era. Cheek leather and rivets in excellent condition. The stock itself is marked on the bottom of handle with RI over 3. Low wood, no belly. Back of the stock has a crack on both sides that runs about 2-3 inches. Handguard is IO marked (Inland). The rifle barrel is General Motors marked with the date 11-43. Serial is in the 2,961,xxx range. Bayo lug and wider barrel band were added postwar as was the adjustable rear site. Rear site is marked with PI. Bore is clean with no rust or pitting. WW2 era 15 round magazine is marked IU (Inland). Excellent example of a war time Paratrooper.
