10/25/19 - As seen on the very popular Youtube channel, Forgotten Weapons! In his episode on Party Leader Pistols, the host, Ian, uses this exact gun as an example of a beautiful and authentic Party Leader PPK. In other words, this gun is famous! Click on the link in the photos to see the video.
This is an incredible and rare Party Leader Walther PPK rig. The gun is all original finish and near-mint, with just a hint of muzzle wear from the holster. The serial dates it to 1939 and is in the correct range for the issuance of the Party Leader "Honor" Grip. The grip is excellent as well, with no major cracks or defects, just the extremely common and small stress crack from the screw being tightened too far. Nearly all PPK grips from that era will have tiny stress fractures and are to be expected if the grip is real. Minty bore and finger extension magazine. Rig includes one of the finest examples you'll ever see of an original Party Leader holster. It has a super sharp Nazi Eagle on the front flap, and clear Akah proof on inner flap. The rig is completed by an original Party Leader belt and buckle, both in great condition and well marked. Simply put, this is a rare and desirable assembly with a rich history, and in such condition that cannot be upgraded.
_____
The Walther PPK with Party Leader Grips was the "Honor Weapon of the Political Leaders". The Hoheitsabzeichen or High Insignia is the Eagle over Swastika found on either side of the grips where the Walther banner is normally located. The person entitled to wear the honor weapons that were awarded them by the Fuhrer were the Political Leaders of the national, regional and district territories, as well as leaders of local and support units. The persons who wore the honor weapon had their authorizations listed in the district personnel offices, and had to have in their possession a weapons permit issued by the police, which was obtained through official channels. These rare pistols were estimated to number around 3,500, and are widely faked, but this one is guaranteed original.
