7/13/17 - This is a 1900 American Eagle Luger, in the extended Test Eagle range. It is a model 1900 with dish toggle, no Germany mark and in the proper extended Bannerman range. There is a flaming bomb proof on mag bottom, as well as one internally marked on receiver. The pistol has all matching numbers, and the original bluing rates at about 92-94% with visible patina on the straps. More interestingly, this gun was once owned by Howard Hughes and used in the movie "Hell's Angels" in the 1930's - a true piece of movie history, as well as US gun history! If you google the luger and Hells Angels, you can see where it was sold on an episode of "American Guns" for about $15,000. It was also appraised at 50k by Craig Gottlieb. We, of course, appraised it for a lot less as we are selling at a much less inflated price. If you watch the old Hell's Angels movie you can see the distinctive dish toggle on the gun used in the film. The guns transfer of ownership is apparent on the internet, including Wikipedia, showing it was given to the screenwriter as a gift by Howard Hughes. Comes with a sworn affidavit of Howard Hughes' ownership.
