12/4/18 - This is an exceedingly rare American Eagle DWM Luger with crisp A.F. Stoeger retailer markings on the right side frame and receiver. The pistol is all original and correct with 98% high-polish blue remaining, showing only minor barrel and muzzle wear. A very similar, albeit earlier, example just sold at Rock Island for $16k. This pistol is chambered for .30 caliber with a 4.5 inch barrel. These American Eagle Lugers were the very first Stoeger Lugers made expressly by DWM under contract for the Stoeger Arms Company in New York for import into the United States. Although it is estimated that over 1,000 of this model were made the actual production was probably considerably less and they are very scarce today, especially in this original high end condition. The right side of the barrel extension is marked "A.F. STOEGER, INC./NEW YORK." with a very small "GERMANY" stamped on the front of the frame below the serial number, and again on the right side of the receiver. This specific pistol is actually a very unique example that has the usual rust blue finish with some high polished blue finish and with a slightly flat blue on certain parts, mixed with straw colored small components. Mint bore, magazine and grips.
