7/1/21 - This is a Diamond Grade engraved 12 GA side-by-side with beautiful damascus barrels. The finish on the barrels is excellent and uniform and both bores are bright and shiny. The finish is thinning slightly under the trigger guard with minor patina on the underside of the shotgun near the trigger guard and receiver. The wood is also in beautiful condition with the only notable flaw being a small chip that was repaired near the trigger guard. Between the barrels is marked “Charles Daly Extra Fine Damascus Barrels Diamond Quality.” When the under guard is removed both barrels are marked with the crossed pistols logo with a crown above it. This indicates that the gun was made by Lindner, the most desirable of the Charles Daly Prussian makers. The lock is marked “Anson Deeley” with “963” underneath and “Brevete” under that. Charles Daly shotguns were among the finest guns available in the world in the late 19th century and up until WWI. They were produced mostly for export to America. Both barrels choked full, giving the owner the option to open them if desired. The shotgun is chambered for 2.5 inch shells. It can also fit 2.75 inch shells but will not have sufficient room to open when fired. Must use black powder shells due to the Damascus barrels. NOTE: After further inspection, it appears the gun may have been re-stocked and repaired in the rear of the trigger guard.
